Alana Lindsay

b. 1998, Bristol

Bio:

Alana Lindsay is a contemporary artist based in London, known for her surrealism oil paintings and performance videos. After earning her degree in Fine Art from Cardiff Metropolitan, she began posting online performance art videos, quickly attracting an audience of over 500,000 across various social media platforms. Her practice navigates between painting, sculpture, and extensional thoughts, concerning themselves with self-control, regression, mortality, self-worth, and emotional compartmentalisation. Shaped as a cube, Sailan is the world Lindsay has created governed by gods embodying her emotions and traits: self-hatred, narcissism, mortality, immortality, love, and identity. Within this world there are characters who wonder its plains and feature as wearable sculpture that are used to create the paintings. Becoming both the subject and the tools.

Graduating during the pandemic, Alana participated in various online exhibitions and publications, and curated her own exhibition and book, OBSURUM, for emerging artists who missed out on their graduation shows and opportunities.
