Elham Hemmat
b. 1989, Shahreza
Elham Hemmat is a London-based, award-winning visual artist whose practice centres on abstract ceramic sculptures exploring the human body as a site of identity, memory, and cultural meaning. Drawing on Paleolithic and Neolithic imagery, mythology, and tribal art, her work celebrates human diversity through vibrant patterns, textures, and symbolic forms.
Raised in Iran, Hemmat engages with the body as both a personal and political subject—shaped by societal norms yet deeply individual. Her ongoing ceramic series, now comprising over 150 unique sculptures, reflects a longstanding inquiry into embodiment, transformation, and belonging.
She has exhibited in over 15 countries, with works held in public collections such as the Mons Memorial Museum (Belgium) and the Museum of Human Rights (Canada). Her accolades include First Prize at the International Biennial of Theatre Poster (Poland) and a Silver Medal at the International Poster Triennial in Toyama (Japan).
