Freddie Darke (b.1984, London) is a figurative painter whose work explores human journeys, transience, and the entangled nature of collective history. Working primarily in oils and inks on canvas and paper, his paintings weave together ambiguous narratives drawn from memory, photography, film, literature, and art history. Through this layered approach, Darke investigates the porous boundaries between fiction and reality, figuration and abstraction.

Since 2016, Darke’s practice has been shaped by residencies and socially engaged projects across Europe, including time in Bulgaria, Berlin, Lisbon, Athens, and the Eleonas refugee camp. His ongoing Lost and Found Project has been supported by Counterpoints Arts, with whom he has also led creative workshops for asylum seekers. His video work Autumn Leaf was exhibited at The London Group Open (The Cello Factory), and in 2023 he was selected by Peju Oshin for the ING Discerning Eye at The Mall Galleries.

Recent exhibitions include The Other Art Fair, warmly still (Shoreditch Modern), FOUR (Apperley Arts), and a major 2024 solo show, Rumours of Treasure, at Copeland Gallery. Darke lives and works in London.
