Giulia Cacciuttolo
b. 1991, Rome
Giulia Cacciuttolo is an Italian artist living and working between Italy and London. She holds a BA in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome and two Master's degrees in Painting and Fine Art from UAL: Wimbledon College of Arts and Central Saint Martins. Her work explores memory, contemporary archives, and the evolving role of ritual in processing loss and collective history.
Over the past decade, Cacciuttolo has developed a materially rich practice that integrates textile, latex, silk, wax, analogue photography, and casting techniques. Her recent research focuses on “contemporary rituals” as acts of mourning, investigating how we navigate grief, abandonment, and the passage of time in the absence of formal structures.
She has exhibited widely across Europe, with solo shows at Galleria Ramo (Como), Sottofondo Studio (Arezzo), Hop Galerii (Tallinn), and Pragovka Gallery (Prague). Her work is held in public and private collections including the Vatican Museums, RAE Kulturhaus, and the DLA Piper Art Collection. She has received several accolades, including the Alpine Fellowship Art Prize, Jerwood Photoworks Award, and the Mona Hatoum Bursary, and was commissioned by DLA Piper for a major public artwork in London in 2019. Her residencies include the University of Hertfordshire, Tokyo University of the Arts, Hong Kong University, and Pragovka Art District.
