Bio
Keru Chen, an artist from Xinyang currently based in London, brings a unique, experimental approach to her painting practice. With a BA from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and an MA from the Royal College of Art, Chen's work has been exhibited internationally, including shows like Asterisk at Underline Space in Beijing and An Process of Strangeness in London. Her work embodies spontaneity and controlled randomness, creating compositions that arise naturally from quick, intuitive movements.
In her practice, Keru sets specific constraints—no drafts, no references, and a strict 30-minute timeframe per piece. These self-imposed “rules” foster a sense of freedom, allowing her to explore playful and humorous themes that resonate through her work. This approach forms the foundation of her "snowball" technique, where each piece nourishes and influences the next, resulting in a dynamic, evolving artistic journey filled with energy and imagination.
