Tianxi Wang
b. 2001, China
Tianxi is a London-based artist working in painting, illustration, and mixed media. With training from Pratt Institute and a master’s in Illustration from Edinburgh, her work explores memory, identity, and the emotional undercurrents of family and society.
Through collage, oil, and layered materials, she creates textured compositions that blend the surreal and the intimate. Recurring motifs—such as chairs and fragmented figures—act as emotional symbols, evoking absence, tension, and connection. Faces dissolve into colour fields, while gestures become vessels for feeling.
Her process is meditative and experimental, inviting spontaneity and material dialogue. By transforming everyday elements into psychological spaces, Tianxi creates work that bridges private experience and collective reflection.
