"Bida is about the rise and fall of the Ghanaian empire, female sacrifice and an evil dragon inspired by west african folklore. Bida was the name of the dragon that encircled the ancient empire of Ghana and it bestowed upon the city riches to the king, in exchange for a female sacrifice every year. the King agreed, generations went by and a young girl called Sia jatta bari was selected. Her nomination erected protest from her fiance mamadi sefe dekote who would later kill the serpent, and flee the city as the serpents death brought destitution to the kingdom. The figure painted is my representation of the last girl called to be sacrificed Sia Jatta Bari."
