"This painting came about with no plan or source material, it's entirely made-up. In its early stages it had figures in completely different positions and a more contemporary feel. It ended up being the starting point for a new motif for a new series (2025) - using maps and billboards within the image to break up the picture plane and to explore my interest in messaging and semiotics."
