'The Crossing', 2025
£240.00
Unique
Stoneware clay, glaze
7cm x 27cm x 10cm
Signed: bottom
"This piece explores themes of identity, migration, and adaptation. The figures are on a boat, evoking a sense of movement and direction, yet their weary faces suggest the weight of an uncertain journey. Some appear more exhausted than others, reflecting the uneven burdens we carry. We all have agency, yet the conditions we navigate are not the same. Circumstances shape the effort required to move forward. Some face resistance at every turn, while others find a clearer and smoother path. During the glazing process, oxides were used to highlight the black baggy eyes and tongues, emphasising their fatigue."
