'The Second Skin', 2024

£468.00

By Regina Torres Thompson

Unique

Stoneware clay, glaze
46cm x 20cm x 13cm

Signed: bottom

"The ‘second skin’, is literally our home. This piece emerged from a time of transition; moving between countries, searching for a sense of home, and questioning what stability really means. Home once felt like a place, a source of comfort, yet I came to see that it is also a construct, one that can soothe or confine. This piece explores that tension, the fine line between security and stagnation. The walls that protect us can also hold us back, turning refuge into restraint. Is it the space that holds us, or our attachment to it? Does stability offer freedom, or does it limit our movement? Perhaps what we call home is not a fixed place but an ongoing negotiation; between longing and belonging, between staying and leaving."
