'The Wave', 2025

£105.60
sold out

By Regina Torres Thompson

Unique

Stoneware clay, glaze
5cm x 11.5cm x 5.5cm

Signed: bottom

"This piece is a representation of the 'Mexican wave'. A reminder of the space that humour holds in society and in moments of transformation. The Mexican wave is a movement that starts in a crowd, usually at a stadium, when people stand up and raise their arms one after another, creating a ripple across the stands. It is spontaneous, collective, and playful. It has no goal, no leader, no outcome. It is a small gesture, almost silly, but deeply shared. A moment where the body becomes part of something larger without losing its joy. Humour is a powerful tool. It creates space. It interrupts heaviness. It reminds us not to take life too seriously."
